Big Brothers and Big Sisters

Every child benefits from developing a meaningful relationship with a role model or mentor.

For a child faced with a difficult homelife or growing up without the influence of reliable parental love and support, it’s especially important to be able to turn to someone who is dependable and caring.

And that’s exactly what JF&CS Big Brothers and Big Sisters provide.

JF&CS Big Brothers and Big Sisters provide friendship, companionship, support and a positive influence for Jewish children in need. They are special people with special qualifications -- enthusiasm and patience, compassion and emotional maturity. In addition, interested adults (at least 19 years or older) must make a minimum one year commitment of approximately three and a half hours a week to their Little Brother or Little Sister.
Bigs and Littles (Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the children with whom they are partnered) meet many times throughout the year to enjoy lively social outings and activities, such as bowling nights, Blue Jays Baseball games, indoor beach volleyball and indoor rock climbing. We are grateful to the Larry Grossman Foundation for Kids for their generous support of these fun-filled events.

In addition, our Bigs and Littles get together to help others, through social action programs like the annual Passover Food Drive coordinated by the National Council of Jewish Women.
