Development Officer
Full-time; 12-18 month contract; 35 hours per week, potential evenings
Salary: $68,000 to $84,000; based on experience

We support the healthy development of individuals, children, families, and communities through prevention, protection, counselling, and education and advocacy services, within the context of Jewish values.
About the Role
The Development Officer will play a key role in building relationships and supporting fundraising initiatives within the Jewish community of Toronto and the GTA. They will support the Development and Communications department in enhancing community presence and resource development for the Agency. The Development Officer will lead and organize projects and activities related to the annual campaign, major gift solicitation, events, Emerging Leaders, and other fundraising and donor stewardship initiatives.
Responsibilities:

Identify, cultivate and steward a portfolio of donors at all giving levels, including major gifts, includes thank you calls, reports and Donor Wall updates.

Support the strategic direction of the Annual Campaign, including the spring and fall appeals, Giving Tuesday, Mitzvah Gifts, and reminders.

Lead fundraising initiatives that directly benefit the Jewish community, such as providing High Holiday and Passover meals for vulnerable and isolated clients, helping children and youth attend Jewish camps, and supporting Holocaust survivors with dignity items.

Ensure the process of thank you letters for tax receipting purposes is effective and efficient. This includes preparing the content for thank you letters.

Lead stewardship initiatives for EchoAge, the 1868 Society (loyalty program) and Monthly Mitzvah Makers (monthly giving program).

Focus on the donor lists and categories and that updates are made in RE.

Coordinate all Blackbaud products, including Raisers Edge and Net Community ensuring data integrity, relevance and accuracy.

Develop and analyze reports for Development and Accounting teams, senior management and the Board of Directors.

Liaise directly with the Accounting Administrator for tax receipting and reporting.

Provide support and professional guidance to volunteer committees in the planning and execution of fundraising events.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Degree or Diploma in fundraising/communications and/or related experience.

Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in fundraising.

Good knowledge of Jewish community a definite asset.

Superior verbal and written communications skills.

High level of database skills and computer literacy.

Strong research skills.

Ability to handle a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Must be a team player with proven ability to work well with diverse groups of people including staff and volunteers.
