JF&CS’ Holocaust Survivor Services provides financial support for the purchase of medical or dental care and service needs for eligible Survivors, access to community services and counselling. Interested Survivors (or their family members or caregiver) can contact 416-638-7800, ext. 6207 or please contact your designated social worker directly. Wherever possible, services are provided in the primary language of the Survivor.

Eligibility

Eligible Survivors live in the GTA and have an individual income below $30,390 and assets at or below $30,390 a year. Client’s financial eligibility is screened at intake to confirm eligibility.

 

The maximum amount of financial support for a 12-month cycle that began in 2023 is up to $3,000. The maximum amount of financial support for a 12-month cycle beginning in 2024 is $3,400. These are the maximum amounts and are subject to the availability of funds and can vary based on the item needed.

 

Eligible expenses also need to be greater than $100. Please contact HSEAP intake at 416-638-7800, ext. 6207 to discuss eligibility.

Eligible expenses (non-exhaustive list)

• Urgent dental procedures or dentures that are not covered by government dental plans

• Incontinence supplies

• Hospital beds for in-home use 

• Mobility and safety devices  

• Urgent medical supplies (ostomy, CPAP, prostheses) 

• Chiropody

• Physiotherapy*

• Ambulance and urgent medical transportation*

• Glasses, hearing aids and basic orthopedic needs 

• Prescribed medications not covered by OHIP

• Other emergent needs, if applicable

Survivors should contact JF&CS prior to making a purchase to confirm eligibility and the availability of funds. We pay vendors directly on behalf of Survivors.

Eligible community services
Our program can help Survivors access counselling and a range of available resources within the Jewish Community and government programs, such as healthcare, homecare, tax rebates and social services.
