Manager, Child Protection

Full-time; 12 month contract

Salary range: $90,000 - $115,000

About the Role

We are seeking a Manager of Child Protection to lead our Intake team. This role is responsible for ensuring that services to children and families are provided in accordance with the Child, Youth and Family Services Act (CYFSA) and the agency’s strategic vision. In this role you will oversee the team that handles new community referrals and investigates cases, while also providing leadership, mentoring, and clear service expectations to staff. You will collaborate with the Child Welfare Management team to implement departmental goals.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the intake team in delivering child protection services in compliance with Ministry Standards.

  • Provide clinical supervision and conduct case consultations for intake staff.

  • Address client complaints promptly and effectively.

  • Collaborate with child welfare managers and family service managers to ensure seamless service delivery for children, youth, and families.

  • Foster an equity driven, respectful workplace culture that prioritizes child-focused services.

  • Participate on the emergency after-hours management team.

  • Contribute to Agency-wide initiatives, representing JF&CS’s mission and values.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in social work or a related field

  • 5 years or related experience in child protection, including supervisory experience preferred.

  • Registered member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) in good standing.

  • Thorough knowledge of Ontario Child Protection Standards and the Child, Youth and Family Services Act (CYFSA).

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Deep understanding of community issues and their impact on child welfare services.

  • Proficiency in French, Hebrew, or Russian is an asset.
