Social Worker – Domestic Violence

Full-time; 12-18 month contract; 35 hours per week, potential evenings

Salary: BSW $67,000 to $88,000; MSW $76,000 to $101,000 based on experience

About the Role

We are seeking a Social Worker – Domestic Violence to provide direct counselling and other services and supports to clients, specializing in woman abuse and intimate partner violence. The incumbent may carry out other assignments as needed and appropriate and will carry out related activities and administrative tasks as necessary.

 

Responsibilities:​​

  • Conduct assessments and provide case management coordination which may include the provision of information, advocacy and referrals to both agency and outside sources such as shelters or legal support programs.

  • Provide individual or group counselling to clients using a range of appropriate counselling modalities and techniques to best meet client needs.

  • Provide community-based advocacy for access to services such as medical, legal, police departments, support services, therapy, and other related assistance.

  • Develop ongoing referral relationships within the sectors, which intersect with our clients’ needs including health, education, legal and other social service agencies.

  • Maintain an understanding of legislation and government-prescribed procedures, regulations and standards for JF&CS programs.

  • Adhere to Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:​

  • Master of Social Work, Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent.

  • Registered member of OCSWSSW in good standing.

  • Minimum 3 years of clinical or related experience required.

  • Experience in assessment and client service delivery.

  • Knowledge and/or expertise in specific trauma-informed, clinical therapeutic interventions such as brief, solution-focused therapy, CBT, and/or group psychotherapy.

  • Working knowledge of the Child, Youth & Family Services Act (CYFSA) in Ontario.

  • Strong clinical and assessment skills.

  • Demonstrated negotiation skills in client and system advocacy systems.

  • The ability to establish rapport, credibility and build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.

  • Fluency in Russian and/or Hebrew will be considered an asset
